York University student and Canada’s top under-23 hurdler, Tamarri Lindo, is facing deportation to Jamaica, a move his family says could be deadly.
Since arriving in Canada, Tamarri Lindo has become one of the country’s most promising young athletes. Now in his third year of health studies at York University, Tamarri is ranked #1 in Canada for indoor hurdling in the under-23 category. He also took home a gold medal at the 2025 Ontario University Athletics Championships.
But all of that his education, his athletic future, and even his life, could be lost.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has begun removal proceedings against the Lindo family. They’ve been called in for an interview on September 22nd, and in many cases, deportation can begin within days after that.
The family fears deportation to Jamaica could put them at serious risk of harm. “We can’t let the Lindo family back to Jamaica where their life is at risk,” supporters say.
Tamarri’s one-year reprieve, granted last year, has now expired and with it, his chance at safety and Olympic success could disappear.
Tamarri has dreamed of representing Canada at the Olympics, and with his record, that dream is not far off. But now, everything he’s worked for is in jeopardy.
The Lindo family has done everything they can through legal channels, but they need your help to stop the deportation.
